Durham Police and Crime Commissioner, in partnership with County Durham Community Foundation, is making available £150,000 for a grants fund to support the voluntary and community sector of County Durham and Darlington.
The fund will support projects and initiatives across County Durham & Darlington that help keep communities safe and contribute towards inspiring public confidence. The fund is not aimed at organisations that are already funded directly from core commissioned, statutory policing and community safety activities, but will support projects and initiatives that are additional and work at a local community level.
The key themes that the fund is looking to support include projects and activities that:
- Enhance and build safer communities
- Tackle anti-social behaviour
- Tackle harm caused by alcohol, drugs, and violence.
Eligible Organisations
- Any charitable organisation who can demonstrate how their project and/or activities link with the PCC Police and Crime Plan 2015-2017.
- The organisation does not have to be a registered charity but must have solely charitable aims.
- Projects are not subject to set priorities but must benefit groups and people living within County Durham and/or Darlington
- The PCC encourages strong partnership working, so applications from consortia are also welcome.
The fund will not support deficit or retrospective funding (i.e. grants for activities which have already taken place).The Police & Crime Plan 2015-2017 can be found on the PCC's website.
